Automation system was developed on the basis of the most advanced foreign technologies in this field, adapted to application in Russian power generation industry.

This system allows automating the following:

  • Ignition process;
  • Water-jet soot-blowing and steam “cannon” soot-blowing;
  • Control of vibrobit devices to prevent blocking in raw coal bunkers.

Advantages of the local automation systems:

  • visual representation of technological process;
  • use of the touchpad making process of operation simple and easy;
  • technological process can be controlled and operated both from remote workstation, and directly from terminal;
  • common equipment – terminals operate on the basis of single-type controllers and uniform user interface.

The following can be connected to one terminal:

  • up to three igniting devices, including electric burners, fuel oil and steam valves, ingniter's retractors;
  • up to eight soot-blowing devices of short-, long-retracting, or gun types;
  • up to four long sootblowers;
  • up to eight vibrobit devices.

Operational characteristics of local automation terminals

  1. Control of moving of oil-firing burners with control of the initial and operating positions and the length of movement.
  2. Control of electric valves of fuel oil steam supply, fuel oil spray, fuel oil and steam for cleaning the oil atomizer of oil(-firing) burners on completion of the ignition process. Control over position of valves by the end switches, management of time. Control over valves’ closing and opening.
  3. Control of moving of the igniter with the help of pneumatic drive combined with control over its initial position and ready-to-work position, and also – over its traveling time.
  4. Generation of sequence of high-voltage pulses (2 kilovolts) with the pulse time of up to 2-6 times per second, and the power generated at the igniter’s spark gap, which is not less than 12 kJ;
  1. Continuous control of operability of the flame signal meter, presence of the signal of flame, control over the presence of spark, and over proper operation of a high-voltage module.
  2. Control over pressure in supply line.
  3. Integration of power generating facility into the industrial control system by connecting to Ethernet or the RS-485 networks.
  4. Visualization of the process, with emergency situations screened in pop-up windows giving information about what happened (see figure).

Automating the processes of water and steam soot-blowing, the local automation system provides (short- and soot-blowing long-retracting devices) with the following:

  1. Supervising the presence of the blowing agent in the line.
  2. Control over movements of the nozzle array: Control of moving from initial to front position, nozzle array moving back to the initial position.
  3. Possibility to operate in manual or in automatic mode: in automatic mode, the cycle of programs for all devices, included in the process of soot-blowing, and automatic transmission to the next cabinet are switched on.
  4. System configuration in the process of selecting devices, included in the process of soot-blowing.
  5. Visualization and control of the process from a sensor control panel (See figure).

For long-retracting soot-blowing devices one more function is also included:

1. Ability of hydromonitor to move vertically and horizontally according to the given program, including the ability “to paste” those sectors, which are undesirable for blowing (e.g. in the area of burners).

In automation of vibrobit processes, the local automation system provides the following:

  1. Activation of vibrobit devices by the signal given by the meters of coal “chocking-up”.
  2. Activation of vibrobit devices by the signal given by timer, and program operation within the given time limits.
  3. Configuration of the system through giving the time cycles of vibrobitting and pauses (individually for each device).
  4. Visualization and control of the process by a sensor control panel with different zoom level, screening of emergency situations.
